Vintage Leyland 680 6 Cylinder Railway Engine
This engine arrived from the Keith & Dufftown Railway for a complete rebuild.
We polished the crankshaft, main and big end bearings. The cylinder block was bored to remove liners. The block surface was refaced as scored and damaged. Chrome guard liners were fitted and skimmed to achieve correct liner protrusion.
The cylinder heads were stripped and skimmed, all valves and seats cut and lapped in, vacuum check carried out on completion.
The fuel pump was stripped and fully overhauled. The injectors were stripped and nozzle tips ground to achieve atomisation.
Engine rebuild commenced with new main bearings, big end bearings and thrust washers. New pistons, pins, clips and rings fitted. Oil pump stripped and inspected. End plates lapped in to remove slight scoring, and re-fitted. Overhauled cylinder heads fitted and all clearances adjusted. New cylinder head gaskets sourced, most other gaskets hand made as no engine sets available. We also fabricated 24 high pressure fuel pipes.
Engine and framework assembly painted Fraser Green.
